My Photos
Some well known Motorsport personalities I’ve met along the way
David Richards CBE
1981 World Rally Champion co-driver to Ari Vatanen
Chairman of Prodrive and Motorsport UK
I was honoured that David and his wife Karen made a visit to my stand at Race Retro.
He ordered my “Kicking up the dust” print of the car that he and Ari won the World Championship in.
My artwork is now on display with this famous car.
Malcolm Wilson OBE
Former British Rally Champion, founder of M-Sport
I met Malcolm at a Hexham Motor club evening I was invited to in which he was guest speaker.
The Motor club presented him with my painting of him on the RAC Rally.
He told me that this will be going on his office wall.
Stig Blomqvist
1984 World Rally Champion
Rallying legend and super nice guy.
Stig signed my print of him in the Quattro on the Monte.
This is in my personal collection.
Harri Toivonen
Former Rally driver and younger brother to the late Henri Toivonen
Harri visited my stand at the Historic Rally festival and signed my artwork of his brother Henri on the Swedish Rally.
Kalle Grundel
Former International Rally driver
Kalle contacted me and said that my artwork of him taking third place on the Swedish Rally was the best artwork he had seen.
Thank you Kalle.
Ian Grindrod
Former International Rally Co driver
The print that both Ian and Jimmy Mcrae signed, was auctioned and raised funds for a children’s hospice.
Jackie Oliver
Former F1 driver and Le Mans 24 hour winner
So proud that Jackie took the time to sign my artwork.
David Llewellin
Twice British Rally Champion
David signed my print of him in the Metro 6R4 on the Manx.
Steve Bannister
Yorkshire Rallying legend
My artwork of Steve on the 2008 Pirelli National was ordered by Steve’s wife.
I have since met the old school McRae Tifosi elite crew at Knockhill when he brought his full crew for a chat at my stand.
Great guy!
Frank Kelly
Irish Rallying legend
Frank had promised me a photo of him with the car but there was a delay in getting it, as he had written the car off on an event just after receiving the print.
However, true to his word, as the new re shelled car was rolled out of his workshop, his first job was to have this photo taken.
Amusing that he told me that they used my artwork as a reminder of where the decals went on the freshly painted shell.
Gerry Johnstone
Former head of Dealer Team Vauxhall
Gerry was the first to purchase my “Old Nail” artwork and since commissioned me to do Baby Bertha which features on the front cover of his book.
Gerry is a wealth of Motorsport knowledge and a great engineer.
Alastair Caldwell
McLaren F1 Team Manager 74–78
I was extremely honoured that Alastair expressed an interest in my James Hunt print.
James Hunt was my childhood hero and Alastair was instrumental in him winning the World Championship.
